Alfa Laval SU 831 Fuel Oil Spearator
Alfa Laval SU 831 Oil Separator has a compact and robust construction that makes it a reliable fuel oil purifier.
It produces significantly less sludge during the purification process. S-Separators are used to purify a wide range of lubricants and fuel oils used on ships and power plants.
How does it works?
When the oil is fed into the separator through the oil inlet continuously, it uses centrifugal force to separate the contaminated oil.
The separated water and sludge accumulate at the bowl periphery. The purifier oil is discharged through the oil outlet.
It uses a flow control disc instead of the standard gravity disc, as the difference in specific gravity between water and fuel oil to be purified is less.
A water transducer is situated in the clean oil outlet, which automatically adjusts the oil/water inter-phase to maximize separation performance.
When the accumulation of separated water increases, the water approaches, the disc and part of the water are carried over the clean oil.
The water transducer senses the water in the oil and sends a signal to the control unit.
The control unit opens the water drain valve. The accumulated water flows through the hole in the flow control disc and the drain through the valve.
Applications:
- It is mainly used on ships in the engine room to purify the oil stored on ships in large quantities.
- It efficiently purifies heavy fuel oils with viscosities up to 700 cSt/50ºC and high densities up to 1010 kg/m3
