European Gas Turbines are formerly known as Ruston Gas Turbines. The company is famous for manufacturing narrow and standard gauge diesel locomotives and steam shovels.
European Gas Turbines also manufactures cars, steam engines, and a range of internal combustion engines and gas turbines.
European Gas Turbines are significant for generating electricity from natural gas or any other liquids. Their turbines typically operate at a high speed of 3000 RPM to generate electricity with a frequency of 50 Hz.
European gas turbine engines can be used to power aircraft, trains, ships, electrical generators, pumps, gas compressors, and tanks.
3 Main Components of Gas Turbines:
- An air compressor
- A combustor
- A power turbine, which produces the power to drive the air compressor and the output shaft
European Gas Turbine Functioning:
- Air entered through the turbine inlet
- The compressor increases the pressure of the air
- Compressed air mixed with fuel, where fuel is injected (if it was not drawn in with the intake air) and burned to convert the stored energy
- Expansion and exhaust, where it generates mechanical energy
- This mechanical energy is then converted to electrical energy
